How to use Plant protein powder with a delicious twist
Protein powder, when incorporated in recipes, can give them a more delicious and savory taste.
You will usually pass on multiple things when you have diabetes, but we will make sure that you have enough protein.
Here are a few amazing recipes that will satisfy your taste buds without any guilt.
1) Chocolate protein smoothie -
Ingredients -
1 cup Milk (Soy milk, almond milk, low fat milk of your choice)
1 Banana
1 scoop of Plant protein powder
Method -
Add all ingredients together in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Serve immediately.
Pro tip - Whenever you're making a shake, add the liquid ingredients first by placing them near the blades of your blender.
2) Protein powder pancakes -
Ingredients
- Banana
- 1 cup roasted oats
- Chocolate Plant protein powder,
- 2 eggs
- Baking powder
- 2-3 drops of vanilla extract
Method -
Add all ingredients together in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy.
Heat an oiled skillet to medium-high and cook pancakes for 2–3 minutes per side, or until lightly browned. Then flip to another side.
That’s it, and a protein-filled pancake is ready.
3) Protein packed oats bowl -
- 1/2 cup old fashioned rolled oats
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 banana, sliced (optional)*
- pinch of sea salt
- 1 scoop protein powder
- Your favorite toppings of fruits or seeds.
Method -
Add oats, mashed banana and sea salt to a pot. Add water and stir until combined.
Heat oats over medium-high heat for 8 to 10 minutes or until liquid is absorbed. Stir frequently to ensure that banana slices are incorporated into the oats.
When the oats are cooked and all the liquid has been absorbed, the oats will be thick and fluffy.
Remove oats from the heat and stir in protein powder. If the consistency of the oats gets too thick, add a little more water, stir in a scoop of protein powder. If the oatmeal gets too thick as it cooks, add a splash of more water or milk to thin it out. Transfer the oatmeal to a bowl and top with your favorite oatmeal toppings.
